            Cambridge - Norwich Tech Corridor (CNTC) Marketing and Events Manager

Reports to:                CNTC Business Development Manager

Main purpose:           Management and delivery of the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor’s brand building, marketing, events and promotional activities, with the aim of bringing significant investment to the Tech Corridor area by marketing the Corridor as a desirable location for inward investment and high growth businesses.

Key relationships:    CNTC Business Development Manager, Head of Enterprise Zones and Innovation, CNTC Chief Executives/Leaders Group, CNTC Delivery and Operational Groups, Inward Investment Manager, LEP Board and executive team, public and private stakeholders

Term:                          2 Year Fixed Term Contract

Key tasks and activities

      Strategy and Delivery Planning

  • Further develop the Branding Strategy and Marketing Plan for the CNTC in line with the vision and objectives of the project.
  • Based on the CNTC delivery plan and taking advice and direction from CNTC Business Development Manager, formulate a marketing delivery plan for all of the CNTC’s marketing and promotional activities.
  • Ensure that the success of the marketing plan and subsequent activity can be measured and reported to the CNTC Partnership.
  • Ensure that the marketing plan makes optimum use digital and off-line marketing media as appropriate to the target audiences and taking account of the available marketing budget.

       The content and delivery of all CNTC marketing platforms

  • Continuously review and maintain content and delivery of all CNTC marketing platforms, including website, newsletters, press releases, events and social media.
  •  Enhance the appearance and content of the CNTC website, and together with the Business Development  Manager develop a plan for the CNTC online platform.
  •  Ensure that full analytics are available for all marketing platforms.

      The organisation and delivery of a CNTC events programme

  • As part of the CNTC Marketing Plan, plan and deliver an attractive and engaging CNTC events programme across a range of topics relevant to the target audiences as identified in the CNTC Delivery Plan.
  • Seek and make use of opportunities to co-brand partner and stakeholder events with CNTC
  • Support the Business Development Manager with ongoing activities and events organised with the CNTC Operational Groups.

      Procurement and contract management of all external marketing resource

  • Based on the agreed Marketing Plan and Budget, procure external marketing resource, as required to support and deliver the marketing plan.

      Maintenance of the marketing budget

  • Day to day management of the external marketing budgeting including quarterly reporting

      Establish and grow strong professional relationships

  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders within the Corridor and ensure that partners, stakeholders and supporters are consulted, informed and engaged, as appropriate, with regard to CNTC marketing plans and resources
  • Actively engage and work with stakeholders to become CNTC "ambassadors"

Health & Safety / Environmental Health

  • Implement the legal obligation to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Follow the company’s procedures, as described in the Health & Safety Policy.
  • Report anything unsafe to the Health & Safety Competent Person and report accidents, near misses and so on in the accident book

Person Specification 




Is educated to degree level or equivalent

Evidence of continued professional, managerial and personal development

Relevant marketing qualification


Significant experience of managing brand building and delivering marketing activities, including events, websites, newsletters, press releases and social media

Writing and developing branding and marketing strategies

Writing website and press release content

Project management including project budgets and project reports

Experience of working with external marketing agencies

Partnership working

Report writing

Creative input to marketing content

Contract Management experience

Procurement of external service suppliers

Experience of inputting and maintaining client databases


Knowledge of modern marketing theory and practices, including brand building, promotion, social media, press relationships

Skilled in developing and undertaking marketing campaigns and events

Capable copy writer

Project Planning and Management

Analytics and post campaign reporting

Excellent written English and oral communication skills

Creative self-starter and able to work on own initiative

Self-confident, tactful and diplomatic

A keen eye for detail and the ability to produce high quality, accurate work in tight timescales with limited supervision

Knowledge of economic development, especially relating to rural economies

Knowledge of the UK tech sector, especially existing activity around the CNTC area of influence
